John F (Fritz) Thomann, age 99 of Noble, passed away at 10:02 PM on Wednesday, December 2, 2020 at Helia Healthcare in Olney.
Fritz was born on November 4, 1921, in Clay County, the son of Frank and Carrie (Schnautz) Thomann. He was the 6th of 7 children and was born in his parent’s home. He built another home for his parents and remained on the homestead as a dairy and grain farmer 7 miles northwest of Noble until he was 93.
He married Irene Burgener on December 1, 1946 at Saron Reform Church in Richland County. She preceded him in death on September 8, 2009 after they were married for over 60 years and had 7 children. At the age of 91, Fritz married Doris Hasler Everette. She preceded him in death 4 years later as they resided at Brookstone Estates.
Fritz and Irene and their 7 children as well as Doris and her 4 children all attended Glenwood Church in Noble. He was a member of Lincoln Landers Motorhome Association for many years. Fritz enjoyed playing cards, going bowling and spending time visiting with people. He never knew a stranger.
He is survived by his 7 children, Michael Thomann (Ruth), Duane Thomann (Barbara), Gail Baughman Dare (Sterling), Mary Kay Stoltz (Dan), Fay Hedrick (Scott), Barbara Wade (David) and John Thomann (Gail); 2 step-children Alan Hasler and Rebecca Cole; 19 grandchildren and several step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Fritz is preceded in death by his wives Irene Thomann and Doris Thomann, parents Frank and Carrie Thomann, 6 siblings and their spouses Lawrence (Esther), Hilda Franklin (Henry), Marguerite Prosser (Martin), Katherine Miller (Emery/Ick), Mabel Pritchard (Everett), Virgil (Jean) 1 son-in-law, granddaughter Sherrie Wade and step-grandson Todd Mack.
Private family funeral service will be at 10 AM on Monday, December 7, 2020 at Glenwood Church in Noble. Burial will be at North Freedom Cemetery in rural Richland County. Pastor Doyle Williams will be officiating.
A memorial service is being set for Saturday, June 26, 2021 from 1-4 PM at Glenwood Church in Noble. This service will be open to the public.
