Estella Martha (Dowds) Morris

Estella Martha (Dowds) Morris, 78, of West Liberty, passed away at 12:39 PM on Thursday, September 15, 2022 surrounded by family.

Viewing will be from 11 AM – 1 PM on Monday, September 19, 2022 in the chapel of Thrasher Family Funeral Home with no funeral service to follow. Cremation will be accorded. Private burial will be at Maple Dale Cemetery at a later date.

Estella was born on January 31, 1944 in Richland County, the daughter of Edgar and Elizabeth (Galloway) Dowds. She married James A. Harmon on July 18, 1960. He preceded her in death on April 5, 1976. She later married Truman Morris on May 29, 1977. He also preceded her in death on September 23, 1999.

She worked at Burgin Manor, Kralis Poultry and AMF before she retired. She also enjoyed doing puzzle books, watching TV, and crocheting rugs. She will be sadly missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her.

Estella is survived by her companion Robert Harmon of West Liberty; 2 sons Bradley Morris (Lindsey) of Olney and Bobby Morris (Kim) of Noble; 3 daughters Shelia Downey (Bill) of Olney, Sandra Tovo of Olney, and Sharon Goins (Donnie) of Olney; brother Floyd Dowds (Marge) of Updyke, IL; sister Ivy Harmon of Olney; brother-in-law Lee McCray of Owensville, IN; 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by both husbands James Harmon and Truman Morris, parents Edgar and Elizabeth Dowds, son Ronald Harmon, brother Joe Dowds “Archie”, sister Faye McCray, parent in-laws Richard and Anna Harmon, and aunt Irene Followell.

Memorials can be sent to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in memory of Estella Martha Morris.
