Thelma Jeannette Royse, age 95, of Olney, passed away at approximately 8:57am on Saturday, August 26 at Helia Healthcare Center of Olney.
Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at 11 AM at Cornerstone Community Church in Noble. Visitation will be held one hour before the service. Burial will take place at Green Hill Cemetery in Noble. Pastor Neil Royse will be officiating.
Thelma, the oldest of ten children, was born December 6, 1921 in Selma, California to Gilbert and Zelma (Dewhirst) Toliver. She later married Carl Royse in 1947 in Passport, IL.
Thelma attended Eastern Illinois University. She later worked as a librarian at Olney Central College for many years. She loved The Lord and raised a strong Christian family. Thelma loved reading, quilting, arranging flowers, and taking items to the county fair. Thelma always had a smile to share and a kind heart; she was happy all the time and made the world a little brighter. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends, but we know that she is rejoicing in the arms of The Lord!
Thelma is survived by her children, Carla Cole and husband Joe of Olney, Daniel Royse and wife Lynn of State College, PA, Janice Runyon and husband Steve of Olney, and Jeannette Riley and husband Mike of Rock Hill, SC, and daughter-in-law Candice Royse of Noble; Brothers Verle (Mona) and Merle (Jo) Toliver of Olney. Robert Toliver of Shirley, IL, Terry Toliver (Shirley) of Noble; Sisters Betty Heleine of Noble and Letty Dekovessey of Evansville, IN; Grandchildren Susan Foster, Jack Cole, Matthew Royse, John Royse, Davey Royse, Jeremy Sailee, Stephanie Williams, Lucas Runyon, Amanda Klingler, Blake Runyon, Dustin Graham, Wendy Graham, and Sienna Riley; and 22 great grandchildren.
Thelma was preceded in death by her parents, her twin sister Pearl Ennette Toliver, her brothers Carroll and Willard Toliver, sisters-in-law Corolene, Phylis, and Janie Toliver, brother in law Berton Heleine, her son David Royse, and great grandchildren Reese and Joshua Klingler.
