Mary Lue Burgener, age 86 of rural Dundas, passed away at 10:06 AM on Saturday, October 14, 2017.
Funeral services will be at 11 AM on Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at Saron Church of the Grand Prairie in rural Richland County. Visitation will be one hour before the service. Burial will be at Saron Church of the Grand Prairie Cemetery. Pastor Tim Bursott will be officiating.
Mary was born on November 24, 1930 in Lawrence County, the daughter of Earl and Edna Aleen (Benson) Walls Sr. She later married Myron Burgener on February 10, 1952 in Lawrence County.
She was rural mail carrier and housewife. She enjoyed gardening, tending her flowers, and spending time with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed working with her husband at their dairy farm and being outside. She was a member of Saron Church of the Grand Prairie and University of Illinois home extension. She will be sadly missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her.
Mary is survived by her son Billy Burgener (Pauline) of Dundas; Carolyn Totten (Douglas) of Olney; 2 brothers Jerry Walls and Kenneth Walls; sister Mae Engle; 5 grandchildren Karina Burgener, Simon Burgener, Audrey Burgener, Donald Totten and Christina Totten; great-grandchild Kinley Stephens; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Myron Burgener, parents Earl and Edna Walls Sr., 4 brothers Earl Jr., Clyde, Noble, and Randle, 2 sisters Wanda Dickerson and Virginia Smith, brother-in-law Marlyn Burgener, and granddaughter Myra Burgener.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to Saron Church of the Grand Prairie Cemetery in memory of Mary L. Burgener.
