Delores Irene LomasMarch 10, 1925 ~ April 2, 2017 (age 92)
Delores passed thru heaven’s gate at 3:03pm Sunday, April 2, 2017 at Alton Memorial Hospital in Alton, IL. She was welcomed into heaven by her husband, Conrad Lomas whom she married on January 16, 1941 in St. Charles, MO. They spent many happy years together and lived in rural West Salem prior to his passing in November of 1984.
Delores and Conrad had two daughters; Nancy Loudermilk and her husband Don of Brighton. And Phyllis (Annie) McEuen and her husband Marvin who both preceded her in death. Delores loved her girls very much and enjoyed Sunday dinners of fried chicken and burnt biscuits. She loved having her family close by her side.
Delores was blessed with two grandchildren that she both adored and spoiled rotten. Regina Harbison of Brighton and husband Steve. Delores was heartbroken when her grandson Joe Loudermilk passed away but is sure to be enjoying time with him now in heaven. She also had four great-grandchildren; Brianna Harbison of Gladstone, Mo, Emily, Dexter and Mya Harbison all of Brighton, IL.
Delores was born on March 10, 1925, the daughter of Nellie Ruth( Fischel) and Rolley Vandevender both preceding her in death. She had 3 sister and 3 brothers with Randy Aldridge of West Salem still living.
She retired from Champion Laboratories in West Salem after working for most of her life. There she made many a friend. Delores and Conrad were well known in the local CB Radio clubs for many years where she was known as Granny. She enjoyed feeding finches and growing flowers. Delores was a lifetime member of the Eastern Star of West Salem. She was also a member of Marion Christian Church of rural West Salem where she became best friends with Ruby Marks.
Delores spent the last few remaining years close by her family in Brighton, IL at Robings Manor where she didn’t leave a dry eye upon her passing. They enjoyed her smile and wit and charm everyday.
Visitation will be 11am to 1pm Thursday, April 6, 2017 at Thrasher Family Funeral Home in Olney, IL with funeral immediately following. She will be laid to rest in the Macedonia Cemetery in West Salem. Pastor Gavin Bellinger will officiate the services.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Marion Christian Church of West Salem, IL.
