Charles Ray 'Chuck' Miller, age 84, of Toledo, went to be with the Lord at 8:25 AM on Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at Mason Point Nursing Home in Sullivan, IL.
Celebration of Life service will be at 11 AM on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at Hillside Bethel Tabernacle Church in Decatur. Visitation will be 1 hour before the service for family and friends. Cremation rites were accorded. Pastor Donald E. Horath will be officiating. Burial will be at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield at a later date.
Chuck was born on November 17, 1932, in Danville, the son of Curtis and Effie Alice (Huffman) Miller. He later married Marilyn Joan Horath on March 14, 1954 in Decatur.
He served in the United States Navy 1st Class during the Korean War. He later worked as a welding manager and salesman. He was a member of Hillside Bethel Tabernacle Church in Decatur. He enjoyed fishing, working in the garden and being around his family and grandchildren. He will be sadly missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
Chuck is survived by his wife of 63 years Joan Miller of Toledo; son, Eddie (Sally) Miller of Sullivan; 2 daughters Vicki (Robert) Caldwell of Divernon and Barbara (Bryan) Phillips of Carbondale; brother Curtis (Margaret) Miller of Maroa, IL; 2 sisters Esther (Jim) McEvoy of Antioch, CA and Edith Spittler of Wabashaw, MN; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents Curtis and Effie Miller and a brother and sister.
